Kemudian ia ditanam secara meluas di Afrika utara terutama Mesir, di selatan Eropah di Syria dan sedikit di Asia Tengah seperti Iran dan India, . Tumbuh dengan ketinggian sekitar 20 hingga 50 sentimeter dan berdaun halus dengan kedudukan daun bertentangan. Batangnya berwarna hijau, bulat, berbulu dengan ukuran garis lintang sekitar 2 hingga 5 milimeter, sementara jarak diantara dahan adalah sekitar 2 hingga 5 sentimeter. Dahan bercabang di atas. Berbunga lembut di hujung dahan, selalunya berwarna biru muda dan putih, berukuran garis lintang sekitar 3 sentimeter, jumlah kelopak diantara 5 hingga 10 helai. Tangkai bunga agak panjang dan ia semakin panjang apabila buahnya semakin matang. Berbuah agak besar jenis ‘inflated capsule’ terdiri dari 3 hingga 7 pangsa yang mengandungi sejumlah biji.
